The car was expected to fetch around $100,000 dropping from it’s original purchase price of $350,000 but it ended up going for much less. The auction lasted less than 5 minutes as the winning buyer wasted no time purchasing the torn-apart Maybach for $60,000. The price dropped mostly because of the auction house warning prospective buyers that it was being sold as a work of art and not a working vehicle.

A portion of the sale was donated to Save the Children, which helps children and their families around the world. “We are grateful to Jay-Z and Kanye West for offering up pop culture history to do good for children in Africa.” Carolyn Miles, President and CEO, Save the Children, said in a press release.
